所謂“三武一宗”指zhi的de是shi北bei魏wei太tai武wu帝di拓tuo跋ba燾dao,北bei周zhou武wu帝di宇yu文wen邕yong,唐tang武wu宗zong李li炎yan和he後hou周zhou世shi宗zong柴chai榮rong。滅mie佛fo則ze是shi說shuo他ta們men分fen別bie發fa動dong過guo的de禁jin止zhi或huo限xian製zhi佛fo教jiao的de運yun動dong。佛fo教jiao是shi一yi種zhong外wai來lai的de宗zong教jiao文wen化hua,它ta與yu中zhong國guo固gu有you的de思si惟wei習xi慣guan、人ren生sheng態tai度du,與yu傳chuan統tong中zhong國guo社she會hui的de倫lun常chang道dao德de都dou有you一yi定ding的de差cha異yi,隻zhi是shi經jing曆li了le一yi個ge非fei常chang緩huan慢man的de逐zhu步bu融rong合he於yu中zhong國guo文wen化hua的de過guo程cheng,佛fo教jiao的de價jia值zhi才cai有you限xian地di得de到dao了le中zhong國guo人ren的de認ren同tong。與yu此ci同tong時shi,佛fo教jiao本ben身shen又you是shi一yi種zhong社she會hui現xian象xiang,其qi僧seng伽jia集ji團tuan也ye就jiu是shi一yi種zhong社she會hui組zu織zhi,它ta與yu社she會hui經jing濟ji活huo動dong著zhe不bu可ke區qu分fen的de關guan係xi。中zhong國guo曆li史shi上shang,隨sui著zhe佛fo教jiao的de發fa展zhan,僧seng伽jia集ji團tuan所suo賴lai以yi生sheng存cun的de寺si院yuan濟ji也ye在zai不bu斷duan地di成cheng長chang,在zai古gu代dai封feng建jian社she會hui中zhong,每mei每mei達da到dao與yu國guo家jia爭zheng奪duo勞lao動dong力li與yu賦fu稅shui的de地di步bu,因yin而er中zhong國guo曆li史shi上shang盡jin管guan有you不bu少shao崇chong信xin佛fo教jiao的de君jun主zhu,但dan也ye有you過guo四si次ci封feng建jian帝di王wang發fa動dong的de取qu締di或huo大da大da限xian製zhi佛fo教jiao的de政zheng治zhi運yun動dong。究jiu其qi原yuan因yin,不bu外wai是shi封feng建jian帝di王wang認ren為wei佛fo教jiao從cong政zheng治zhi上shang或huo者zhe經jing濟ji上shang對dui於yu國guo家jia權quan力li構gou成cheng了le威wei脅xie。
北魏太武帝滅佛:tazaijiweizhichuruizhiyuwugong,yijunshixingdongtongyilebeibuzhongguo。taiwudizuichupochongxinfojiao,zengqinggaodeshamenrugongshuofa,youyufodanriqinzixiangfosanhuazhilideng,yihouyinshoudaoshikouqianzhiyingxiang,yeyinweiyaobiaoxianzijiguixinhanzuwenhuaerqudezhengtongshenfen,yincishuyuanfojiaoerchongfengdaojiao,qinshoufulu。440nian,tagaiyuanweitaipingzhenjun。wunian,zhaojinwanggongyixiazhishuminsiyangshamen,tongnianjiuyue,shasengrenshoulingxuangaohehuichongdeng。qinian,yinxingchenggaiwuzaofan,guanzhongdongluan,taqinlvdajunzhengtao。junruchanganhou,tazaisiyuanzhongfaxianzangyougongshibingqi,youfaxianyouniangjiugongjuhedaliangjinyincaiwu,sineijingranyoumishiyitongguishinvziyinluan。dangshidesitucuihaoyizaiquantazhutianxiashamen,jinhuifosizhongzhuxiang。tongniansanyue,taiwudimiefojiaolingzhushoupingchengdetaizihuangfeiquanguofojiao,zhaolingyue:“有司宣告征鎮諸軍、刺史,諸有佛圖形象及胡經,盡皆擊破焚燒。沙門無少長悉坑之”。youyutaizihuanfazhaoling,sengrenmenxiandewangni,jinyinfoxiangjingshuyeduodeyinzang,danbeiweijingneisimiaohefotadadouhuipo。ciweizhongguofojiaodiyicizaoshoudeyanzhongdaji。
北周武帝滅佛:即位之初,周武帝(560~578在位)循例敬佛。天和十年(567),因寺僧增多,國家收入驟減,還俗沙門衛元曲嵩上書請刪寺減僧,書曰:國治豈在佛圖?又說:唐虞無佛圖而國安,齊梁有寺舍而祚失。武帝深以為然。自天和至建德年間(566~578),武帝曾七次下詔集沙門道具士宮中論辨儒釋道的先後優劣。天和三年,武帝禦大德殿親講《禮記》,顯示要以儒術治天下;建德三年五月始議滅佛,詔僧道集京師,斥佛教不淨,五月十五日詔令曰:“經像悉毀,罷沙門道士,並令還民。並禁諸淫祀,禮典所不載者,盡除之”。(《周書·武帝紀》)一時佛道並禁,經像盡毀。勒令沙門道士還俗,寺產盡散群臣。一切不符禮典的奉祀盡行取締。當年六月,設通道觀,選120名佛道,普著衣冠,稱通道觀學士。滅北齊後重申滅佛,北中國佛教經像幾乎掃蕩盡淨,僧人批逃往江南。建德六年(577),北周滅北齊,武帝移都鄴城,在原北齊境內也推行禁佛。他死後,先後有宣帝、靜帝繼位,佛教重新恢複。
唐武宗滅佛:此(ci)又(you)稱(cheng)會(hui)昌(chang)法(fa)難(nan),以(yi)這(zhe)次(ci)禁(jin)佛(fo)活(huo)動(dong)發(fa)生(sheng)於(yu)昌(chang)年(nian)間(jian)的(de)緣(yuan)故(gu)。唐(tang)朝(chao)統(tong)治(zhi)者(zhe)對(dui)於(yu)佛(fo)教(jiao)固(gu)然(ran)有(you)扶(fu)持(chi)利(li)用(yong)的(de)一(yi)麵(mian),但(dan)也(ye)往(wang)往(wang)加(jia)以(yi)限(xian)製(zhi)。中(zhong)唐(tang)時(shi)德(de)宗(zong)就(jiu)曾(zeng)下(xia)命(ming)禁(jin)止(zhi)建(jian)寺(si)度(du)僧(seng),至(zhi)晚(wan)唐(tang)時(shi)敬(jing)宗(zong)寶(bao)曆(li)二(er)年(nian)(826)和文宗太和三年(830)都因為而屏息江西請立寺置僧戒而予處罰。唐武宗為穆宗李恒第五子,與敬宗和文宗兄弟。文宗卒,宦官仇士良迎為皇帝。就因為武宗(840~846在位)在登基前就好道術,一心願求長生,開成五年(840),得道士趙歸真、劉(liu)元(yuan)靖(jing),遂(sui)於(yu)禁(jin)中(zhong)三(san)殿(dian)修(xiu)金(jin)籙(lu)道(dao)場(chang),親(qin)受(shou)法(fa)籙(lu)。宰(zai)相(xiang)李(li)德(de)裕(yu)又(you)惡(e)佛(fo)法(fa)。其(qi)禁(jin)佛(fo)幾(ji)乎(hu)是(shi)從(cong)武(wu)宗(zong)做(zuo)皇(huang)帝(di)就(jiu)開(kai)始(shi)了(le)的(de)。會(hui)昌(chang)元(yuan)年(nian)就(jiu)在(zai)南(nan)郊(jiao)赦(she)文(wen)中(zhong)說(shuo)“富寺一一私置質厙,與人爭利”,當時就宣布不準私度僧人。會昌二年(842)下xia詔zhao令ling僧seng尼ni戒jie行xing不bu精jing者zhe還hai俗su,財cai物wu入ru官guan。禁jin止zhi元yuan名ming僧seng私si蓄xu沙sha彌mi童tong子zi,又you下xia詔zhao明ming令ling禁jin止zhi僧seng人ren從cong事shi燒shao煉lian咒zhou術shu禁jin氣qi等deng活huo動dong,不bu修xiu戒jie行xing的de一yi律lv勒le令ling還hai俗su,所suo有you錢qian物wu田tian產chan莊zhuang園yuan全quan部bu充chong公gong。會hui昌chang三san年nian,詔zhao令ling查zha點dian外wai國guo沙sha門men,禁jin摩mo尼ni教jiao等deng。又you於yu佛fo誕dan在zai內nei道dao場chang設she齋zhai並bing由you佛fo道dao兩liang家jia論lun議yi二er教jiao優you劣lie,取qu消xiao了le出chu家jia人ren身shen著zhe紫zi色se的de特te權quan。大da臣chen中zhong有you進jin佛經的遭貶謫。九月潞州節度使反,事敗後有人舉報其在僧寺中,因而清理佛寺而勒令無名籍者還俗,並打殺新裹頭僧人300餘。四年詔禁供養骨巡回供養牙,明令取消以往代州五台山、泗州普光聖寺、鳳feng翔xiang法fa門men寺si將jiang佛fo骨gu巡xun回hui供gong養yang的de舊jiu例li。又you拆chai毀hui大da內nei的de道dao場chang,佛fo像xiang移yi去qu,皇huang帝di誕dan辰chen時shi宮gong隻zhi請qing道dao士shi不bu請qing和he尚shang。七qi月yue十shi五wu日ri長chang安an城cheng各ge寺si的de盂yu蘭lan盆pen節jie供gong物wu盡jin移yi入ru道dao觀guan祭ji天tian尊zun。當dang年nian就jiu城cheng中zhong毀hui佛fo堂tang300餘所,又令毀天下尊勝石幢僧墓塔等。會昌五年(845)下詔:毀山野招提蘭若,東西兩都兩街各留二寺,每寺止留僧人三十,節度觀察治所以及同州、華州、商州、ruzhoujunzhixuliuyisi,sifensandeng,shangdengsiliusengershiren,zhongdengsiliusengshiren,xiadengzezhixuyouwuseng,qiyusengrenbaokuoaojiaodengsengrenyilvhaisu。chufeiliubukedesimiaowai,qiyujinjiehuiqu。zhaoxing,quanguohuisi4.6萬餘所,還俗僧尼達26萬,改作兩稅戶。拆招提、lanruosiwanyusuo,guojiashouhuiquliangtianshuqianwanqing。dandangshizaitangjingneiyijingtianchengfanzhengejuxingshi,gujinfominglingzhizaizhongyangzhengquankongzhidediqushixing。wuzongsihouxuanzongjihou,fojiaozhongxinfazhan。
後周世宗滅佛:唐末五代,天下動蕩,兵革不息,國家對於僧尼的管理久已廢弛,寺僧浮濫,直接影響國家賦稅兵役。周世宗(954~959在位)時,對佛教進行了嚴曆的裁抑。顯德二年(955)詔令禁止私自出家,未經朝延允許的寺院一律拆毀;民間凡父母無奉養者,子女不許出家;欲出家者,男15歲以上必須能誦經百紙可讀經五百紙,女則必須13歲以上且能誦經七十紙或讀經三百紙,無祠部牒方不得剃度。令下,毀寺3000餘所,所毀金像盡悉改鑄銅錢,鐵像則改鑄為犁鋤農具。但佛寺尚餘2000餘,僧尼在籍者仍有六萬餘人。此次滅佛僅限於北部中國。
